Take a look around, my friend. Resources on this Earth have never been scarce.
Yes – our crops have been vulnerable to weather, famines, plagues.
Yes – we’ve occasionally shafted ourselves by hunting an animal to extinction.
But the only scarcity we face is what we cause ourselves by destroying agricultural lands, air, waterways and oceans with chemical pollution, and by supporting a needy and destructive class of millionaires and billionaires.
It’s capitalism that creates scarcity.
If we can put a stop to that – and we must – we’ll find a planet abundant with all that we’ll ever need to survive and thrive.
We can restore our waterways and agricultural lands. We can prevent further destruction to the oceans and eventually heal this world.
Scarcity is a lie.
We could be on the cusp of unprecedented scientific breakthroughs, of an age of scientific progress that will enable us to do amazing things. Things like…
clean energy … clean agriculture … milestone advances in health care and mental health care … a clean construction revolution … an automation revolution … an artificial intelligence revolution …
There are more than 8 billion of us, and billions more will be here soon. That’s more than enough to feed, clothe and house everyone. That’s more than enough health care workers, teachers, builders, growers, engineers and all else.
We must seize this moment to shed the history of exploitation and embrace abundance.
Scarcity theory is no longer relevant to human life.
