T: The Hard Problems Guide

I CALL YOU TO ACTION

Transformationism rejects capitalism, conservatism, socialism, social capitalism, libertarianism, monarchy and imperialism.

Transformationism embraces novelty, adaptation, universalism, economic transformation, collaboration, cooperation and inclusion.

We need new types of solutions: profit, taxation, debt and investment don’t work. Social capitalism has failed.

The Hard Problems Guide (HPG) is a resource to guide Transformationists as we set out to solve hard problems and transform human economics. Every problem has a solution. We don’t believe in the no-win scenario.

Under Transformationism, subject matter experts and good old-fashioned regular folk will work together to create the HPG and get to work on solving problems.

Work on the hard problems will be organized in interconnected and collaborative Circles.

The Problems

The Economy Crisis

Capitalism, communism and their offspring have failed. We need a new economics that encourages moral behaviour and supports universal well being. We must throw out taxation, investment, insurance, debt and benefits and start again. A new system for a new era of human prosperity.

The Energy Crisis

There is no point even talking about relieving world poverty while we are running on fossil fuels and deforestation. This is a scientific problem and we will throw everything at it until we have a sustainable, globally accessible energy solution.

The Environment Crisis

We must stop polluting Earth’s air, oceans, lands and water ways with toxic chemicals and plastic. We need a scientific and engineering revolution in technology and industry.

The Farming Crisis

Current farming practices are destroying nature and threatening the very survival of our species. We need a global transformation in agriculture. But we also need to protect millions of communities all over the world who may be forced to change their way of life.

The Housing Crisis

Not only is the world rushing headlong into housing deprivation, but burning fossil fuels to heat and cool buildings is a primary driver of global heating. We need solutions to this now, not later. We need to quickly learn to build climate- and environment-clean homes and to get work building them without delay everywhere on Earth.

The Water Crisis

Humans populate every corner of the world and we need a global strategy to deal with the water crisis and ensure water security for posterity.

The Health and Mental Health Crisis

Conservative and social capitalist economics is destroying any prospect we have of creating global health care for all of humanity. We must address chronic shortages of health care workers and facilities all over the world. We must address chronic health problems and stop the needless death of millions of our children, brothers and sisters.

The Learning Crisis

The promise of global learning has been all but lost under capitalism. They have been running down education for decades and ignoring the learning needs of developing countries – all in the name of so-called ‘fiscal responsibility.’ What a joke. We need a global education strategy to make sure the next generation of humans is ready to take on the hard problems that us and our ancestors have created for them.

The Clothing Crisis

As long as women and children are working inhuman hours in inhumane sweatshops, as long as clothing production is polluting the planet, I’d say we have a clothing crisis. I won’t rest until children are liberated from clothing sweatshops and clothing industry workers are respected – and you shouldn’t either.

The Violence Crisis

Humans, especially women and children, have been living with the violence crisis since the dawn of time. But progress against violence is too slow under conservatism. If anything, conservatism actively perpetuates patriarchy and the rights of men to harm women and children both secretly and in public. With renewed urgency, transformationists will develop a strategy to eradicate violence from human life.

Consensus: The Democracy Crisis

Conservatism, socialism and social capitalism have done nothing but foster division in human relationships. Every election cycle is mired in trivial debates about taxation and debt. As the world goes to shit around us, far from turning to socialism, people are running to the right, to an ideology they believe is safe – conservatism, that is in reality the single biggest cause of economic failure and environmental collapse out there.

Few ideologies in human history, save racism, religion and nationalism, have done more to destroy families and communities or killed more children than capitalism. That is what it has always done and what it still does today.

With the difference that in the modern era, capitalism has extended its scope of destruction to include the sky, the earth and the oceans.

The single most difficult task facing Transformationists is to articulate this to the people of planet Earth and to build informed consent to transform our way of thinking and experiencing other human beings and human life itself.

Failure to achieve this goal will lead to another thousand years of senseless poverty, oppression and violence.

Let's get to work.
